What changes in status quo

Nothing: no schools close and no boundaries change. PPS projects 48% of students would attend a school above its sustainability threshold by 2031–32.

What happens next

  1. Oct 6, 2026: scenarios presented to the school board
  2. October–November: community feedback on both scenarios
  3. Mid-November: the superintendent recommends one plan
  4. December: the board votes in a public meeting
  5. Fall 2027: changes take effect for the 2027–28 school year

These are proposals, not decisions. Transportation, staffing and transition support are still being planned.

Boundaries are traced from the vector paths in PPS’s scenario PDFs (rightsizing model 2026.09.24) and placed using the PDFs’ own embedded map coordinates, so positions are accurate to a few metres. Area names come from the school labels on each map. School changes come from the PPS board memo and regional summaries for October 6, 2026. Status quo areas match the City of Portland’s school boundary data for 98% of the district at K–5 and 9–12. Confirm addresses near a boundary with PPS; lottery and immersion placements are separate.
